    Design Brief

To provide low maintenance task and area lighting for the memorial plaques, surrounding plaques, water features and walkway areas in the Peace Park complex.

To provide visually intriguing effects within a number of featured totem poles, a major focal point of the park.

The lighting must be vandal resistant and waterproof with the fibre optic light sources themselves hidden underground.

The plaque lighting created must be free of glare so as not to obscure the view of the observer.

    Design Solution

Digilin 30mm stainless steel eyelid fittings were selected for the plaques. 40mm diameter solid brass down lights with borosilicate glass lenses were fitted to the timber beams of the pergola.

The totem poles were fitted with purpose built up-lights placed inside the inspection panels. As the poles are stencilled with laser cut design elements, weather-proof lenses were incorporated for durability. Fed by a six-position colour wheel, the totem effect is visually stunning and unique.

The lighting features added to the Peace Park are powered by two DB 300 light sources fitted below ground in two pits with surface vents.

A practical and visually stunning result that satisfied all the requirements of the design brief. A happy client with an outdoor space that has its artistic and architectural features enhanced with reliable, low maintenance, vandal resistant, efficient and visually stunning lighting.

    Fibre optics at its best.
